Abstract
This talk will be a whirlwind tour through topics in fractal geometry. We will begin by discussing the intuitive notions behind dimension and how we can abstract that to non-integer dimensions in regards to self-similar fractals. We will then back up this intuition with mathematical rigor by introducing the notion of the Hausdorff measure and Hausdorff dimension. In the second half of the talk, we will briefly explore other topics including numerical methods of measuring fractals, the Mandelbrot Set and Julia Sets, and fractal calculus.
